Hondsbossche & Pettemerzeewering Coastal Reinforcement Plan

Nature and recreation must be given the utmost consideration. That way, the coast not only becomes safer, but also more attractive for nature, recreation and tourism. The coast must be back in shape by the end of 2015.

On its way is a broad, sandy beach with new dunes; both smaller ones and a large dune, just lower than the levee. You will soon also be able to cycle along the sea on a new cycle path. In close collaboration with parties involved and residents, ARCADIS Landscape Architecture has designed spatial quality. This entailed working with development scenarios for the area, which have been elaborated into specific building blocks and four alternatives. In dialogue with the stakeholders, an area elaboration was created for reinforcing the area's spatial quality.
