The visitors' experience thus commenced not when entering the park, but already when getting out of the car at the car park.

ARCADIS conducted a careful analysis of the various modes of transport and the visitor streams to be expected. All of the streams converged at the Terminal: railway bus, coach, bus, bicycle, and visitors who came by a special shuttle from the car park, which was at some distance from the park. The Terminal is a high-end square with special attention to detailing, major vegetation elements and surrounded by a spectacular carpet of flowers. The basis of the terminal concept is disentangling the streams, whereby each visitor is able to reach the entrance without crossing motorised traffic. Visitors rated the Floriade with an average of 8.5, and the event was named by CNN as being in the top ten of the world's most important events in 2012.
