The Rotterdam region has to cope with substantial problems in terms of accessibility and the quality of the living environment. The A16 Rotterdam is therefore a new expressway connection between the A13 and the Terbregseplein traffic junction. Its route intersects the green Northern arch of Rotterdam, which comprises a series of natural and recreational areas. Careful incorporation is therefore essential.
The A16 Rotterdam Landscape plan is illustrative of the landscape incorporation of the planned measures with regard to the A13/A16 connecting curve between the A13 and access to the Terbregseplein. The landscape plan was formed during an extensive process involving the surrounding area and stakeholders. The route includes a semi-sunken tunnel under the Lage Bergse Bos and the course of the Rotte river. The recreational network will be improved thanks to the creation of a new recreaduct and the so-called Polderpad.
