Oda Park

Venray, The Netherlands - Commissioned by the Oda Park Foundation, ARCADIS Landscape Architecture designed the Oda Park in Venray. This old park, formerly owned by the Ursuline Sisters, is a place where history and contemporary art meet in the woodland dunes of the Loobeek valley.

Oda Park

Venray's most important wedding location, the tea house, has been here since 1900. It is a place where many people from Venray visit; to walk, to play and to attend wedding receptions. The park deserves a proper revamp, since the sight lines have disappeared and the paths have grown over, and the historic heart and entrance are no longer recognisable as such.

Key to the design process are accessibility, diversity in greenery and visibility of the historic elements. The historic entrance has thus been restored and adjusted to modern times with contemporary information provisions. New entrances have also been added that fit in with the park's style. Pruning and trimming has made the park woodland more transparent, and the three sub-areas are once again distinct from each other. The complete routing was given an update, and the locations of the sculptures are emphasised here and there with plantings.
