John Boon is Head of the Landscape Architecture, Urbanism and Place-shaping Advisory Group, with more than 30 years of experience in landscape architectural design and process. He works on projects where functionality, form and sustainability come together, with a particular focus on Healthy Cities and experience design. In projects such as Zuidpolder Barendrecht, Amsterdamse Poort and Markermeerdijken, he brings together water, ecology, recreation and health in integrated designs with strong spatial quality. John is inspired by the genius loci and sees the landscape architect as a generalist who can unite different interests into one coherent whole. For him, the end user is always central: a place should not only work well, but also inspire and resonate.
