Petten, Camperduin - The Northern Holland Water Authority (HHNK) was looking for an innovative way to prepare the coast at Petten/Camperduin for rising sea levels caused by climate change.
Arcadis Landscape Architecture & Urbanism drew up the project plan design for the new waterfronts at Camperduin and Petten. These needed to offer space for both nature and recreation. So the coast was not only made safer, but also more attractive in terms of nature, recreation and tourism. By the end of 2015 the work was complete and the coastline was ready for the future. Arcadis Landscape Architecture was responsible for the spatial quality design, in close cooperation with stakeholders and local residents. Work was carried out on development scenarios for the area, which were translated into concrete building blocks and four alternatives. A regional plan was then drawn up, in dialogue with stakeholders, to improve the spatial quality of the area.
