The iconic Schouwburgplein is the first of seven squares where local residents and organizations are working to achieve 100% climate neutrality by 2030. The program provides solutions for transport, the environment, water supplies, urban planning, existing buildings and livability, for example. As one of the project partners, Arcadis is working with the initiator of the project, the Rotterdamse Schouwburg theatre, to develop the plan to improve the sustainability of the Schouwburgplein.
The plan covers energy generation, gray water, green roofs and other new technologies that can be employed by and for all the people living, working and enjoying leisure time in this area. Our strategy for improving the sustainability of the Schouwburgplein will not only deliver a healthier living environment but also ensure support for this transition among stakeholders.
